BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here has cleared 12 out of 25 robbery cases in the province from January to June 2022.

Cleared cases refer to incidents wherein police have already filed cases against the perpetrators.

The remaining 13 robbery cases are still under investigation, based on the records from Nocppo.

The robbery cases this year increased by 1 incident compared to last year’s record of 24, covering the said period.

However, 21 cases were cleared last year, while three are still under investigation.

Last Tuesday, three unidentified armed men robbed two persons delivering stocks of cigarettes to a store in Barangay Caliban, Murcia town.

Two days later, a cafe was also robbed by three unidentified men in Barangay V, Silay City. However, one of the robbers was arrested.

They allegedly destroyed the glass window of the cafe and carted away P815 worth of softdrinks, a cellular phone worth P7,000, and P2000 cash, according to the police.

Police Lieutenant Judesses Catalogo, public information officer of Nocppo, said that lean month is also a factor in the increase of robbery cases in the province recently.

However, he earlier said that these incidents were considered isolated. He also noted that the perpetrators were not part of an organized crime group.
