18,065 Guimarasnons receive ePhilIDs in Q1 2023

A total of 18,065 Guimarasnons received the printable or digital version of the Philippine Identification (ePhilIDs)  in Q1 2023 facilitated by the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office.

“We are proud to say that in Q1 2023 the PhilSys Guimaras was able to reach 71 percent of the total target for the first semester at twenty-five thousand, two hundred (25,200),” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

Losare explained that the Step3 PhilSys Registration had implemented two (2) methods: mode 1, the issuance is done by appointment system, the registered person is the one who will claim his/her ePhilID in the Registration Center (RC); while in mode 2, it is where printing and delivery happens.

“The PDF Format of printable ePhilIDs (password protected) was downloaded by the Central Office to the Provincial Offices for printing and verification/validation in the Fixed Registration Center (RC), then the Step 3 team is authorized to deliver the ePhilIDs in the scheduled barangay,” Losare added.

Of the 18,065 recipients, 279 individuals acquired their ePhilID through mode 1, while seventeen thousand seven hundred eighty-six (17,786) Guimarasnons obtained their ePhilIDs via mode 2.

The recipients of ePhilIDs came from the five municipalities of the province: 6,618 from Buenavista, 5,086 from Nueva Valencia, 2,612 in Jordan, 1,926 in Sibunag, and 1,823 in San Lorenzo.

The issuance and distribution of the ePhilIDs officially started on October 3, 2022, in compliance with the directive of President Fedinand Marcos, Jr. to issue 50 million Philippine Identification (PhilIDs) by the end of 2022, wherein 30 million of these are PVC type, and 20 million are paper type, also called as printed ePhilID.

Losare said the ePhilID is the printable version of the PhilID to complement the ongoing printing of Physical PhilID.

She added that the printed ePhilID is a proactive strategy of the PSA to allow registered individuals to immediately utilize the benefits of PhilID, like quicker and smooth transactions in accessing the economic and societal safety services requiring proof of identity, subject to authentication.

“The ePhilIDs were designed to have the same functionality and validity as the physical card, and it is free of charge,” Losare said.

“Every registered person will still receive their physical card even if they have already claimed their printed ePhilID,” Losare added.

Losare also highlighted that to avail of the printable ePhilID, an applicant shall check the availability of their printable ePhilID using their transaction number in the transaction slip issued after completing step 2 registration.

“Another mode is by appointment, wherein an applicant may set an appointment using the link appt.philsys.gov.ph to the nearest PhilSys RC or via walk-in for printing,” Losare said.
