ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police on Monday filed charges against two drug surrenderers who were caught in separate drug buy-bust operations last week.

Charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002) were filed before the Roxas City Prosecutors Office against Andrew Lara, 36, of Brgy. Punta Tabuc here; and Kirstie Imam, 29, of Brgy. Tanque here.

Lara was arrested by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of Roxas City Police Station led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Ricardo Jomuad Jr., at Legaspi Ilawod, Barangay V here.

Recovered from the suspect were 10 sachets of suspected shabu, P10,000 marked money, a motorcycle, coin purse, and a cellphone.

The police estimated the value of seized drugs at P67,000.

Lara was jailed for the same offense in 2018 but he was released in January 2019 through plea bargaining.

Meanwhile, the same team also collared Imam in a drug bust at Brgy. Tanque here.

Recovered from him were 5 sachets of suspected shabu, P1,000 marked money and a cellphone.

Imam denied selling shabu himself but he admitted to using the illegal substance.
