BACOLOD City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-6 has released P80,776,500 worth of social pension to a total of 53,851 senior citizens in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, covering the first to third quarters of this year.
Atty. May Rago-Castillo, public information officer of DSWD-6, said that the releasing of the social pension for the fourth quarter is ongoing.
Qualified senior citizens receive P500 per month or P1,500 per quarter from the DSWD-6 as cash assistance.
Based on the record of DSWD-6, beneficiaries included 1,658 senior citizens in Calatrava town, 1,695 in Escalante City, 1,301 in Don Salvador Benedicto, 1,893 in San Carlos City, and 1,310 in Toboso town under the first district of the province, totaling 7,857. The total amount released was P11,785,500.
For the second district, there were 1,752 recipients in Cadiz City, 1,531 in Manapla town, and 2,462 in Sagay City, totaling 5,745, with a cash distribution amounting to P8,617,500.
For the third district, E.B. Magalona town has 2,137 beneficiaries, Murcia has 1,563, Silay City has 1,683, Talisay City has 1,526, and Victorias City has 1,314, totaling 8,223. The DSWD-6 has released cash assistance of P12,334,500.
For the fourth district, the DSWD-6 has alloted P14,529,000 worth of social pension to 9,686 beneficiaries. This included 2,318 senior citizens in Bago City, 1,314 in La Carlota City, 1,511 in Pontevedra town, 1,473 in Pulupandan town, 1,522 in San Enrique town, and 1,548 in Valladolid town.
A total of P13,372,500 worth of social pension was also released to 8,915 senior citizens in the fifth district composed of Binalbagan town, 1,472; Himamaylan City, 1,479; Hinigaran town, 1,593; Isabela town, 1,461; La Castellana town, 1,426; and Moises Padilla town, 1,484.
For the sixth district, 13,425 beneficiaries received a social pension amounting to P20,137,500. This included 1,534 senior citizens in Candoni town, 3,350 in Cauayan town, 1,408 in Hinoba-an town, 1,939 in Ilog town, 3,294 in Kabankalan City, and 1,900 in Sipalay City.
For Bacolod City, 3,103 beneficiaries also received P4,654,500 worth of social pension covering the said period.
