BACOLOD City – Hundreds of beautiful Christmas lanterns or “parols” lighted up Forbes Hill at the Bacolod-Silay Airport access road in Negros Occidental, as Megaworld Corporation officially unveiled this year’s Christmas village on Saturday, November 13.
The official lights on ceremony was led by Megaworld’s head of public relations and media affairs Harold Brian Geronimo, Mayor Evelio Leonardia, and guest Ms. Korina Sanchez-Roxas.
Aside from dazzling Christmas trees and lights, what was more exciting about it was that the parols that were displayed in the village were all handcrafted by persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) here.
Megaworld, in a statement, said the Christmas icons were made part of the attraction to support the PDLs’ livelihood program.
The attraction is located at The Clubhouse in the 15-hectare Forbes Hill.
As part of the Megaworld’s gift to Bacolodnons and Negrenses this Christmas season, the property giant also announced that it will soon have the first ever McDonalds NXTGen in the province at the Northill Gateway.
At present, houses are being built inside Forbes Hill after residential lots were recently sold out. The village only hosts less than 200 lots and offers fantastic and refreshing views of the Negros mountains and the surrounding sugarcane plantations.
Geronimo, in his message, said they will continue to make Bacolod shine, with their developments.
