BACOLOD CITY — A one-year-old boy died after being hit by a motorcycle at Sitio Malipayon, Barangay Camalobalo, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, last Sunday.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, the town’s police chief, reported that the victim allegedly suddenly crossed the road as a motorcycle passed by the area around 5:50 p.m.

Corpuz stated that the child’s mother was initially carrying the boy but later put him down to allow him to walk by the roadside. It is believed that the mother may not have noticed when her son suddenly crossed the road.

The impact of the collision threw the child off, causing him to hit his head on a rock. The parents immediately rushed the boy to a hospital, where he was declared dead, according to Corpuz.

The 54-year-old motorcycle driver was released from police custody last Monday after reaching a settlement with the victim’s family.
