The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Guimaras hosted the 35th Civil Registration Month (CRM) Quiz Bee, a highlight of the CRM celebration, to test the knowledge of Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) on civil registration laws and processes.
The quiz bee was held during the opening program at the Nueva Valencia Municipal Hall and featured participants from the five municipalities of Guimaras. Contestants showcased their expertise in key areas such as birth, marriage, and death registration procedures, legal frameworks, and the importance of accurate civil records in governance and public service.
After a competitive round of questions, Michael C. Esprago from the Jordan LCRO claimed the championship title. The runner-up positions were secured by Sherel F. Labaro and Elisa M. Elefan, who also demonstrated exceptional knowledge of civil registration matters.
“The top three winners received certificates of recognition and cash prizes—PHP 3,000 for first place, PHP 2,000 for second place, and PHP 1,000 for third place,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
Losare added that the remaining two participants were awarded certificates of participation and consolation prizes of PHP 500 each.
Esprago and Labaro, the first and second-place winners, will represent Guimaras in the regional-level quiz bee, which is part of the region’s activities for the 35th CRM celebration.
“This contest is vital in strengthening the knowledge and commitment of LCROs to provide accurate and efficient civil registration services,” Losare said.
She emphasized that the quiz bee is more than just a competition. “It is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of civil registration, which plays a crucial role in ensuring every citizen’s legal identity and access to public services,” she added.
The CRM Quiz Bee is one of the many activities planned for the month-long celebration of the 35th Civil Registration Month in 2025. These activities reflect the PSA and LCROs’ dedication to raising awareness and improving civil registration service delivery in Guimaras.
