ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Authorities here joined hands in running after suspects in the series of motornapping incidents in this city and province of Capiz.
The team composed of the Roxas City PNP, Highway Patrol Group, Criminal Investigation ang Detection Group (CIDG-Capiz), Capiz Provincial Crime Laboratory, Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) and the City Licensing Office of the Roxas City government conducted inspections on the junkshops, motorcycle and repair shops of vehicles operating in the city.
The Roxas City police recorded 16 motornapping incidents from January to June 2020.
Police Lt. Col. Ricardo Jomuad Jr., Roxas City Police Station chief, said they checked if motorcycle repair shops and junk shops are legally operating or selling stolen motorcycles.
The police also inspected the motorcycle registration plates through their database. The group was led by Police Captain Peter Osit Bergonio, Provincial Officer of Capiz Highway Patrol Group.
Police Staff Sergeant Henry Tolentino said they also inspected motorcycle spare parts stores.
The City Licensing Office also checked the repair shops if they have valid business permits.
Last week, six stolen motorcycles were recovered from Alexander Martinez, 24, of Malipayon Village in Brgy Tiza here.
Martinez confessed to the police that he was alone in stealing motorcycles to feed his family.
