The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announced that the trio of Tab Baldwin, Jong Uichico, and Boyet Fernandez will be calling the shots for Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers November window.

With only two weeks left to prepare for the tournament, the legendary trio will seek to provide comfortable schemes despite a lack of preparation time to help the Philippines move on to the next round of FIBA qualifiers.

His first stint with Gilas Pilipinas, Fernandez, the current head coach of the San Beda Red Lions who helped the prestigious school win four NCAA titles, will be helping national team staples Baldwin and Uichico in handling college athletes in one of the biggest stages in their basketball careers.

Also, Fernandez’s two aces in San Beda, Calvin Oftana and Kenmark Carino are present in the lineup and are expected to be key players given their resume in the NCAA.

The prized coaches are excited to work with the players they selected after their request for training was already approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) at Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.

Completing the Gilas coaching staff are TNT assistant coach Alton Lister and Baldwin’s Ateneo staff members Sandro Soriano and Andrei Tolentino.
