Bayanihan sa Kampo Delgado shows cops’ generosity

Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 Regional Director, Brigadier General Rene P Pamuspusan, headed the “Bayanihan sa Kampo Delgado” to extend assistance to the people who were in dire need of help amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

PRO-6 personnel put up kiosks containing essential grocery items such as meat, vegetables, canned goods, noodles, coffee, condiments, eggs and rice which were distributed to the 300 beneficiaries from Barangays Concepcion, Veterans Village, Sto. Rosario, General Hughes, Zamora-Melliza and Monica-Blumentritt in City Proper, Iloilo City.

In an interview, Pamuspusan said that the crisis is the best time for PRO-6 personnel to show their kindness and generosity. The goods distributed were provided by the PRO-6 command and some are donations of personnel and offices inside Camp Delgado.

According to Lt. Colonel Victorino E Romanillos Jr., Chief of the Regional Community Affairs Development Division, the command opted to give relief goods to its neighbor barangays to show them that the camp cares for the people around it.

The 300 beneficiaries were identified with the help of the barangay officials and every week, different group of beneficiaries from the same barangays will be catered to by PRO-6.

PRO-6 also launched its COVID-19 official theme song originally composed by the Mandirigmang Mang-aawit. The PRO-6 Band also provided entertainment while the activity is ongoing.

Trivia questions about COVID-19 pandemic were also thrown for audiences to answer with cash reward for each correct answer.

Strict observance of social distancing was still imposed for the beneficiaries while waiting for their turn. All beneficiaries were overwhelmed by the relief goods and expressed their gratitude to the men and women of PRO6.

“Mas masaya ang magbigay,” Pamuspusan said during his talk to the men after the activity.

Pamuspusan said that the Bayanihan sa Kampo Delgado will be conducted every Saturday during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and will be extended up to the transition period to help families recover from their loss during the lockdown.
