BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is on full alert from Thursday to Sunday to guarantee the safe and orderly conduct of Holy Week activities.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Brillo, the BCPO’s administrative officer, announced that 1,000 city police personnel will be actively deployed throughout the Lenten Season, forgoing any leave.
A majority will be stationed in high-traffic areas, with some remaining at police stations and headquarters for administrative duties.
Brillo confirmed that increased police visibility is planned for shopping malls, churches, transportation hubs, seaports, resorts, and other key locations.
Quick-response police assistance desks will also be established.
The Mobile Patrol Group will patrol residential areas, particularly those with narrow alleys, as a crime prevention strategy during the time when many residents may be away on holiday.
Random checkpoints will also be set up to monitor and ensure the safety of residents and visitors alike.
In addition, Barangay Singcang-Airport Captain Atty. Caesar Distrito, speaking for Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, disclosed in a press briefing that motorist assistance desks are being arranged to aid the anticipated influx of travelers and those participating in religious events like processions and church visits.
