BOC-MICP, NBI, PCG seize alleged counterfeit goods

A composite team from the Bureau of Customs-Manila International Container Port (BOC-MICP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Oct 22, 2021inspected a warehouse in Binondo, Manila resulting to seizure of various Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) infringing goods.

After receiving intelligence information that the said warehouse contains IPR infringing goods, a Letter of Authority (LOA) signed by the Commissioner of Customs was issued against the owners, representatives or anyone in possession of the imported goods to be found.

The composite team proceeded with the initial inspection which yielded positive for IPR infringed goods such as Dior Facemasks, Jeep Caps, Hello Kitty Pajamas, Baseus Electronics, among others.

With the absence of the unit owner or representative, the inspection was suspended, and several units were temporarily sealed with 8484 markings.

Full inventory of the goods found is underway to be led by a BOC customs examiner, to be witnessed by CIIS MICP, PCG, and representatives of the warehouse.

The said goods shall be subject to seizure and forfeiture for violation of Section 118 in relation to Section 1113 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
