BACOLOD City – Politics is indeed in the air.
Javi Benitez, a celebrity and son of former 3rd district congressman Alfredo Benitez will run for mayor in Victorias City in the 2022 elections.
This was confirmed to Daily Guardian here Sunday by Abang Lingkod Partylist Representative Stephen Paduano, a close friend and political ally of the former solon.
Paduano said that the Party Asenso Victoriahanon has decided to field Javi Benitez as the official mayoral candidate of the party.
Incumbent Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca is serving his last term.
The younger Benitez is an actor under contract with Star Magic and boyfriend of singer actress Sue Ramirez.
Paduano said that the elder Benitez officially announced during a business forum that “options are open” to run for Bacolod City mayor.
The elder Benitez, who is currently the economic consultant of the provincial government of Negros Occidental, has also been pushed to run for senator.
Social media has been abuzz with posts urging the former solon to run for mayor for Bacold City with businessman Vladi Gonzalez as vice mayor.
