The Iloilo City government will allow flower vendors to sell on the sidewalks in time for Valentine’s Day on Friday.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said flower vendors can display their products at the Iloilo Central Market in City Proper district and the Jaro Plaza in Jaro district.

Flower vendors at Central Market used to be located on the sidewalks. But they were ordered to leave following the road clearing order from the national government.

Treñas said flower vendors will be allowed to sell their products at the Iloilo Central Market and Jaro Plaza from Feb 13-14, 2020.

Meanwhile, Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu said they are still finalizing the specific selling area for the flower vendors.

“We are still finalizing kon diin gid man sila mismo mapwesto sa sagwa gid ukon pwede man sa sulod sang Central Market or Jaro Plaza. Kay sang una sa sulod lang sila allowed,” he said on Monday.

Ilonggo consumers are expected to flood the flower shops to buy gifts for their loved ones during Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14.
