Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas urged City Hall employees to spend time with their families during the extra day-off following the start of the four-day work week at the Iloilo City government.

Treñas issued a memorandum order last week mandating the guidelines for the temporary four-day work week schedule at the City Hall.

Under the temporary work arrangement, employees of the Iloilo City Hall will report for work from Monday to Thursday starting from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

According to the mayor, the new work arrangement will give employees an extra day off and will allow them to spend more time to bond with their family.

May extra day kamo, makabonding kamo, makalibot libot maskin ara lang kamo sa inyo balay. It gives you a chance to be with your family. It gives us a chance nga sa Biyernes nga adlaw, upod mo na imo pamilya,” he said during the press conference on Monday.

A post from Jerry Treñas’s Facebook page also highlighted the importance of family as he urged the employees to spend their extra day off wisely.

“Ultimately you get older, we do more things but what is important is your family. Even as we work we must always remember maskin diin kaw makadto, maskin ano imo pwesto masugod ka sa pamilya, mabalik ka sa imo pamilya. Spend more time with your family. Time flies very fast,” he added.

Treñas said the work arrangement will be temporary in order to cushion the impact of the rising fuel prices.

“This is going to be temporary. I hope the Ukraine crisis will be resolved soon para mabalik naman ang presyo. In the meantime, we have to do our share,” he said. (DG)
