A construction company worker died in a road mishap in Dueñas, Iloilo on Thursday.

Captain Jose Rey Pabalan, Dueñas police chief, said the incident happened around 3:45 pm at Barangay Tinocuan.

Police identified the victim as Arnie Talanas, 59, an employee of G. Uy Construction and resident of Barangay Tagbak, Jaro, Iloilo City.

The incident also injured three persons, including the driver of the Toyota Hi-Lux Anthony Cajuhong, 49, a resident of Himamaylan, Negros Occidental, and also an employee of G. Uy Construction.

Also wounded were Anna Mae Perez, 32, of Barangay Tagubong Passi City, Iloilo, and Jelica Petrola, 28, of Cabatuan, Iloilo. Both are employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)

Police accounts said that Cajuhong was passing through Tinocuan going to Iloilo City when the incident happened.

The vehicle reportedly skidded to the left portion of the road.

“The road was slippery because of the rain. The driver lost control of the steering wheel and hit a parked Honda motorcycle,” Pabalan said.

The van fell into a shallow ravine before hitting a mahogany tree.

Cajuhong and his three companions were rushed to Don Valerio Palmares District Hospital in Passi City.

However, Talanas was declared dead on arrival.

Pabalan said she was seated in the front seat.

The group allegedly inspected a project in Passi City before meeting the accident.
