BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office here appealed to the public to stop spreading reports of persons onboard a white van allegedly snatching kids on the streets.
There is no truth to the said report, Police Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, BCPO spokesperson, told reporters here.
It is a hoax, Pico added.
He said the public should stop spreading the report, especially on social media.
The report claimed that persons on board a van allegedly kidnapped minors to harvest and sell their organs.
One online report cited an incident in Barangay Estefania of a kid who was kidnapped and was later found without his internal organs. But police never got any information on the incident.
Pico lamented that the internet has its advantages as it is a tool to easily inform the public, but it is being abused by those spreading false information just to create panic and fear.
