Cops seize P114,000 worth of ‘shabu’

BACOLOD City – Police here and in Negros Occidental did not stop hunting drug suspects amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

Four persons were arrested in three separate buy-bust operations in the cities of Silay and Himamaylan, and the town of Hinigaran while two persons were caught in a check-up point at Barangay Felisa here on April 28.

In Silay City, Ernie Abela, 47, and Evelyn Adeva, 32, both residents of Barangay Mambulac were arrested at the said barangay for possessing five sachets of suspected shabu weighing seven grams and valued at P105,000, six test tubes, P1,920 cash, P3,000 boodle money, and the P500 marked money.

Joemar Talorong, 38, of Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City was collared at the said village after yielding five sachets of suspected shabu worth P5,000, the P500 marked money, P2,000 cash, an improvised tooter, and a lighter.

In Hinigaran town, Oscar Bergonio Jr., 30, of Barangay III was arrested after the seizure of three sachets of suspected shabu worth P4,000, the P500 marked money, P170 cash, and a cellular phone.

James Ampong, 30, and Leo Degario Asuncion, 23, both residents of Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City were arrested at Barangay Felisa for violating the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) rules due to COVID-19.

Cops later found two sachets of suspected shabu from their possession on top of an improvised tooter, a cellular phone, lighter, a home quarantine pass, and a motorcycle.

Both persons were identified as high-value individuals in the said area, police records indicate. They are detained at Police Station 10.
