Councilor Jay Treñas contracts Covid-19

City Councilor Jay Treñas announced on his Facebook page on Friday that he tested positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

According to the councilor, he is currently not exhibiting any signs and symptoms of Covid-19.

“Unfortunately, I have tested positive for COVID-19. Fortunately, I am asymptomatic with no comorbidities,” he said.

Treñas said he will undergo strict home quarantine for the next 15 days.

Mayor Jerry Treñas ordered a three-day closure of the Iloilo City Hall following the surge of cases detected at the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO).

The three-day period was allotted for the massive swab testing of the almost 2,000 City Hall employees and officials.

On Friday, medical personnel were able to collect 963 swab samples of City Hall employees and frontliners in the metro to be subjected in the real-time polymerase chain reaction test (RT-PCR).

Based on Covid-19 Regional Case Bulletin No.181, the total Covid-19 cases registered in Iloilo City jumped to 2,037 with 1,090 recoveries, 895 active cases and 52 deaths. (ERS)
