COVID-19 cases in Capiz surge to 545

ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Capiz province surged to 545 after 31 new cases were reported over the weekend.

In the latest data released by the Capiz Provincial Health Office on October 4, 24 of the new cases are in Roxas City, 3 in Pontevedra and one each in Tapaz, Panitan, Pilar, and Jamindan towns.

The province now has 160 active cases, 356 recoveries, and 29 deaths.

In Roxas City, cases also increased to 325 after 11 new positive cases were recorded Monday afternoon.

The city now has 126 active cases, 175 recoveries, and 24 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Roxas City Hall of Justice was temporarily closed for two days after one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.

In an Office Memorandum issued by Executive Judge Ignacio Alajar, the building will be disinfected from Oct 5 and 6, 2020.

“In line with the report that an employee of one of the offices in the hall of justice tested positive for COVID-19, you are hereby notified that the hall of justice will be closed for disinfection. This is a preventative measure to avert the spread of possible infections to the welfare and protection of the employees and the general public,” the memorandum said.
