Central Philippine University’s current basketball head coach and a current member of the Jr. NBA Philippines’ pool of coaches, Matthew Jan Montalvo, brought back his online basketball drills program to help young Ilonggos practice despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Started way back 2015, Montalvo’s SWEAT program which stands for Self Work Ability Training aims to improve one’s basketball skills by themselves.

Coach Montalvo uploads his SWEAT basketball drills online via his Facebook and his Youtube channel, Matthew Jan Montalvo.

“This SWEAT is to develop grassroots program para sa mga bata. Start gid sila bata pa kag maka learn basic and to develop also sang attitude nila,” coach Montalvo said in an exclusive interview with Daily Guardian.

The schedule for SWEAT’s upload online is mostly every other day and sometimes every day, and each drill focuses on one specific move to improve your skills.

Coach Montalvo also decided to bring back his SWEAT program to encourage most of the Ilonggos to stay at home and make them realize that you can still improve by just doing it yourself and inside their respective homes.

“The program also aims to motivate and inspire other Ilonggo players to cooperate with what’s safe for us, and that’s to stay sa aton mga balay to stop the spread of the virus,” Montalvo added.
