The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office has completed the concrete paving of the 2.175-kilometer section of the Binalbagan-Isabela Road in Brgy. San Jose, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

District Engineer Randolfo A. Melosantos said the P36.4-million project included the concrete re-blocking of the 2-lane, 6.7-meter wide, 28-centimeter thick Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) along the national arterial road.

The road section was dilapidated since it is considered a major thoroughfare from the town of Binalbagan to the town of Isabela where a big volume of vehicles especially truck loaded with sugarcane, going to sugar factories in the province, hence, improvement work was undertaken to ensure safety of the motorists and the general public.

“The improved road provides comfort to the riding public, beneficial to approximately 2,568 motorists passing the said road and road accidents due to poor road condition will also be minimized,” Melosantos said.

“Considering that this road section provides access to various agricultural areas in the town to main cities and neighboring towns, this road concreting project will help the farmers in transporting their products with ease to bigger market,” he added.

Melosantos also said the project will provide access to people living in the mountainous areas, improving not only their economic condition but also helps in the faster delivery of social and health services to the communities in the highlands. (DPWH-6/RPAIO)
