Various road construction projects in different towns in the province of Aklan were completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Aklan District Engineering Office (DEO).

District Engineer Alejandro M. Ventilacion said their office has completed the construction of 2.33-kilometer by-pass road in Ibajay town. The P36.5-million project involves the construction of two 4-lane road with the total length of 1.5 kilometers and a 2-lane road with the length of 738 meters, including 866-meter box-type drainage.

The road will provide an alternative route, by-passing the town proper, hence reducing traffic congestion and providing lesser travel time from Kalibo Airport going to Boracay Island.

Ventilacion added that DPWH-Aklan DEO has also completed the construction of two road projects at Brgy. Alminos and Brgy. Logohan in Madalag town, each costing P1.9 million. The projects involve the construction of 115-meter and 280-meter Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) roads, respectively.

The construction of a P9.9-million farm-to-market road in Brgy. Sta. Cruz in Lezo town is already completed. The project involves the construction of 612.79-meter PCCP, including provision of a single barrel box culvert and reinforced concrete retaining wall.

“This farm-to-market road will provide easier and faster transport of farm products from the farm to the market, which will benefit particularly the farmers from the barangays of Sta. Cruz, Tayhawan, Sta. Cruz-Bigaa and Bugasungan in Lezo town,” Ventilacion said. (DPWHR6/RPAIO)
