DPWH turns over new healthcare facilities to Iloilo City government

As its contribution towards fighting COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Regional Office 6 completed and turned over recently the completed healthcare facilities to Iloilo City government.

The turnover was initiated by Regional Director Lea N. Delfinado, represented by Assistant Regional Director Jose Al V. Fruto and Maintenance Division Chief, Engr. Ma. Lucila C. Piñero.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas and the City Local Health Unit received the facilities.

The healthcare facilities located in Brgy. Sooc, Arevalo district, are in a 2-building project composed of an Off-Site dormitory for medical personnel and Quarantine/Isolation facility for COVID-19 patients in the city.

The Off-Site dormitory has 16 air-conditioned rooms with two beds and comfort room which can accommodate a total of 32 medical front liners in the city.

The building is also provided with air-conditioned lobby with living and dining areas, as well as kitchen, laundry room, and sanitary area equipped with necessary amenities.

The quarantine/isolation facility, on the other hand, has 16 air-conditioned rooms, each equipped with one bed and a comfort room, which can house a total of 16 COVID-related patients. Also provided in the building are nurse station, male and female nurse quarters, and sanitation area.

A generator set is also provided in the said healthcare facilities to ensure uninterrupted power supply and for emergency situations.

During the turn-over ceremony, Treñas lauded DPWH for providing a good healthcare facility as an addition to the existing facility provided by the city government, adding that some of the COVID-19 cases in Jaro district can now be transferred to this new facility for better accommodation.

Meantime, DPWH will turnover five (5) more healthcare facilities, both for Iloilo City and Iloilo Province.

The facilities include Quarantine/Isolation facilities and Off-Site dormitory in Lapaz, Iloilo City; Quarantine/Isolation facilities and Off-Site dormitory at Western Visayas Sanitarium in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo; Off-Site dormitory at Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Lambunao, Iloilo; Off-Site at Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan, Iloilo; and Off-Site dormitory at Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. (DPWH-6/RPAIO)
