DSWD6 releases P42-M cash-for-work in Antique

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD FO VI) recently released a total of P42,470,000 Cash-for-Work (CFW) to 15,500 beneficiaries in Antique province.

The cash-for-work was implemented through the DSWD’s Risk Resiliency Program-Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM)-Disaster Risk Reduction. It aims to implement projects addressing the needs of communities vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

Through this program, temporary employment is generated which provides income augmentation to families and/or individuals. Each beneficiary received a total of P2,740 for ten days of work (P274 per day or 75% of the prevailing daily regional wage in Western Visayas).

The activities include growing trees of indigenous species, communal/organic gardening, dredging of waterways, canal de-clogging, community clean-up, construction of toilets, rehabilitation of river banks and Farm-to-Market roads, and other activities relative to environmental protection, climate change adaptation, mitigation, and disaster risk reduction.

RRP-CCAM aims to build awareness about climate change adaptation and to encourage communities to take part on implementing community defined projects and on strengthening their resiliency and adaptive capacities on the impacts of climate change and preparedness on the onslaught of disaster as well.

Alicia Gunsi, a beneficiary of RRP-CCAM, extended her gratitude to the program.
