The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-6 said it continues to monitor business establishments in the region to ensure compliance with automatic price ceiling of basic necessities.
Monitoring teams deployed in the cities and municipalities check the prevailing prices of the basic goods.
Aside from monitoring the compliance of the price ceiling, the teams also distribute and post anti-hoarding and anti-panic buying collaterals to inform the public on the limitations of buying certain products.
Business establishments or individuals selling or offering for sale the vital or essential goods (regardless of brand) are hereby required to limit the quantity of the sale of purchase thereof in accordance with the table on the distributed posters.
These collaterals include DTI Memorandum Circular No. 20-07 and 20-10: Anti-Hoarding and Anti-Panic Buying, and Supplemental Anti-Hoarding and Anti-Panic Buying Directive, as well as the Department of Health (DOH) Department Circular No. 2020-0161: Updated Price Freeze on Essential Emergency Medicines and Selective Medical Devices.
The DTI assists the DOH in price monitoring of face masks and alcohol.
