Engineer killed, six hurt in road accidents

BACOLOD City – An engineer died while six others were wounded after they figured in three separate road accidents here and in Negros Occidental last Saturday.

In Talisay City, Engr. Glenn John Nemenzo of Villa Angela Subdivision, Barangay Villamonte here was killed in a collision along Bacolod-Silay access road, Hacienda Divine Lopez, Barangay Efigenio Lizares.

According to Staff Sergeant Docelio Pachoro, traffic investigator of Talisay City Police Station, Nemenzo’s Toyota Hilux pickup truck was on its way to Silay City while a wing van truck was traveling to Bacolod City when the collision happened.

Initial investigation showed that Nemenzo took the lane of the wing van truck based on the allegation of the latter vehicle’s driver identified as Dionesio Ygay Jr., 34, of Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental.

Pachoro said Ygay tried to avoid the alleged speeding pick-up truck but the latter reportedly still hit the vehicle.

Due to the impact, the pick-up truck turned turtle which caused severe injuries to its driver who died on the spot. His vehicle was destroyed.

In San Enrique town, a doctor was injured after his driven Hyundai Accent sideswiped a concrete steel post and fell into a canal at Barangay Poblacion.

The victim was identified by the police as Alemil Tambanillo, 40, of Pontevedra town.

Investigation showed that Tambanillo allegedly lost control over his vehicle that caused the accident.

He was stuck in the driver seat and was rescued by authorities. He was then taken to a hospital.

In Bacolod, five persons sustained injuries after two tricycles collided at Barangay Vista Alegre, police records showed.

Wounded were tricycle drivers Fernan Agolino, 44 and Nemwil Perolino, and his passengers – Patrolman Ivan Ray Dela Cruz, 25; Cinderella Diancin, 26; and Shellene Villanueva, 28, according to the police.

All five of them were taken to a hospital.
