Approximately 2,500 residents of Brgy. Camambugan in Balasan, Iloilo are now enjoying comfortable and convenient travel with the completion of a barangay road to Balasan town proper and the neighboring town of Carles.

District Engineer Flordelis C. Enriquez said the road concreting project worth P20 million and funded by the district’s 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA) budget, started in September 2019 and is 100 percent completed as of February 2020.

Enriquez said the project involves concrete paving of 1.193-kilometer, 2-lane, 5-meter wide road from Brgys. Camambugan to Salong, which is a junction to the Balasan-Carles Road.

“With the improved road, it will only take the people of this barangay approximately 10 minutes to reach the market for the delivery of their farm products, compared before when the road was still rough that it took them at least 20 minutes, hence a big help for faster and more convenient transport of goods and services,” Enriquez said.

“The 2-lane concrete road will also provide convenience to commuters and at the same time would open more opportunities for the people in the remote areas to visit the town proper more frequently than before the road was connected because of faster travel,” she added.

People of the said barangay are thankful for having a very accessible road in transporting goods and products to the market.

The concrete road also gave them confidence and pride as they feel socially inclined compared to other barangays due to improved road. (DPWH-6/RPAIO)
