A farmer was arrested as the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) continues its crackdown against loose firearm holders.

Members of Cabatuan Police Station nabbed Ernesto Orrica, Jr., a senior citizen residing at Barangay Acao, Cabatuan, Iloilo.

The local police swooped on the farmer’s house around 6:20 am of Nov 6, 2020. They implemented Search Warrant No. 20-12 issued by Judge Gemalyn Faunillo Tarol.

The team seized a 12-gauge homemade shotgun with magazine loaded with one ammunition.

Major Niño Leonard Amar, Cabatuan police chief, said they asked the court to search the suspect’s house following persistent reports that he was keeping an unlicensed firearm. On top of that, he was also accused of illegally discharging his gun.

Orrica is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
