BACOLOD City – A farmer was hacked to death by his two stepbrothers at Barangay Asia, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental Friday last week.
Slain was Joemarie Embang, 45, of the said village.
Police Major Clifford Batadhay, town police chief, said that suspects – Raymund Aro, 23, and Richard Aro, 21 – were reportedly drunk when they went to Embang’s house and challenged him to a fight last Thursday night.
However, Embang was prevented by his family from going out of their house to confront the suspects.
The following day, Embang went out to bring his cow to their farm when gunshot was heard by his children.
When his children checked on him, they saw their father lying on a canal with a lone hack wound on the neck, Batadhay said.
The two suspects are still at large. Murder charges will be filed against them, he added.
The town police chief said that they are eyeing grudges due to land dispute as motive behind the killing.
