Five more city barangays under surgical lockdowns

Selected areas in five barangays in Iloilo City were placed under surgical lockdowns on June 9, 2021 due to the continuous rise in COVID-19 cases.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas issued Executive Order (EO) No. 51 on Wednesday imposing 3-day localized containment in five areas, particularly in East Timawa, Boulevard, and San Juan in Molo district; Tabuc Suba, La Paz; and Oñate De Leon in Mandurriao.

The City Health Office (CHO) noted the increasing number of positive cases in these areas in the past seven days.

San Juan, Molo logged 35 cases; followed by Boulevard, Molo with 20 cases; Tabuc Suba La Paz (16 ); Oñate De Leon, Mandurriao (13) and East Timawa, Molo (9).

Under EO 51, portions Zone 1 in East Timawa, Molo and Zone 3 in Boulevard, Molo will be placed under surgical lockdown.

In San Juan, Molo, the following areas will be placed under surgical lockdown – portion of Zone 2 and Zone 3; portion of Zone1A, Day Care Center Area; and portion of Zone 2 near the barangay hall area.

Portions of Block 8 in Happy Homes Subdivision and Sto. Domingo Subdivision Phase 1 will also be on surgical lockdown.

Block 31, Ledesco Village in Tabuc Suba, La Paz will likewise be placed under localized containment.

The EO mandates the imposition of curfew on the said areas from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

During the imposition of the localized containment, only authorized persons outside residence (APORs) specifically government officials; members of the Covid-19 Task Force; personnel from the Department of Health (DOH) and other key agencies; personnel distributing food and medicines; and sanitation personnel among others will be allowed to enter the affected areas.

All residents of the affected barangays are strictly advised to stay at home and refrain from unnecessary travel until the lockdown has been lifted.

Moreover, health authorities will conduct mandatory testing for all high-risk and medium-risk contacts of Covid-19 positive testing and continued contact tracing.

Meanwhile, barangay officials will implement the EO while the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army, Bureau of Fire, and Public Safety and Traffic Management Office and force multipliers shall augment the barangay officials. (ERS)
