Ginebra’s famed never-say-die attitude was once again on full display after finding themselves down by double digits in Game 2.
Facing a 16-point deficit, Ginebra found a way to strike back and rally a massive comeback to prevail over the TNT Tropang Giga, 92-90, in Game 2 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals.
RR Pogoy and Troy Rosario hot shooting propelled TNT to a 16-point advantage during their huge third quarter run.
Pogoy scored 7 quick points in the first minute and a half of the third quarter in what would be a barrage of three-pointers from the TNT squad.
With his team down and looking for a spark, Stanley Pringle ignited a Ginebra run in the last minutes of the third quarter to keep them in the game and cut the huge deficit to just two, 70-68 entering the fourth.
Pringle ended his stellar night with a near triple-double performance after producing 34 big points, eight assists, and six rebounds.
Pringle also made one of the biggest plays in the game after assisting on the go-ahead three-pointer by Scottie Thompson to give Ginebra the lead, 87-85, with 32 seconds left in the final frame.
The victory gave Ginebra a comfortable 2-0 PBA Finals lead and will put a stranglehold on the series if they manage to win Game 3.
