ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Several illegal cockfighting enthusiasts eluded a police raid Sunday afternoon at Brgy. Atiplo in Mambusao, Capiz.

Police Major Edwin Luces, Mambusao Municipal Police Station police chief, confirmed some persons involved in the alleged illegal cockfighting managed to flee upon noticing the police.

But the raiding team recovered eight cockfighting cocks, a shovel, and other items used in the illegal cockfighting.

Luces has urged the public to report to the police if they have monitored the same illegal activities in line with the PNP’s campaign against illegal gambling.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man wanted for the crime of frustrated homicide was arrested Sunday morning in his house at Barangay Capuyhan, Sigma, Capiz.

The police identified the suspect as Erwin Jore Bayot and resident of said place.

The warrant for his arrest was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 21 Judge Rommel Leonor of Mambusao, Capiz.

The court recommended a P72,000 bail for Bayot’s temporary liberty. He is presently detained at Sigma police station.
