Development works have kicked off for the establishment of Iloilo City COVID Laboratory and Dormitory at the old site of City Agriculturist’s Office at MH del Pilar in Molo district.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas stressed the new facility will boost capacity to manage cases in an effort to contain spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
He added the machine to be used is also capable of testing dengue and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Representatives from Department of Health (DOH), Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and World Health Organization (WHO) inspected the project location in May.
“They were really okay with the site. They wanted it completed soon. They were very happy of the city’s initiative,” said Treñas. (Iloilo City PIO)
