Iloilo Launches 35th Civil Registration Month

The Philippine Statistics Authority-Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office (PSA-Iloilo), in partnership with the Association of Civil Registrars of Iloilo (ACRI) Inc., officially launched the 35th Civil Registration Month (CRM) on Feb. 3, 2025, at the San Enrique Covered Gym in San Enrique, Iloilo.

The celebration, themed “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System,” began with simultaneous motorcades from five locations across the province—Carles, Maasin, Iloilo City, Leon, and Guimbal.

These motorcades converged at the San Enrique Covered Gym, bringing together 330 participants, including City and Municipal Civil Registrars (C/MCRs), Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) personnel, LGU staff, PSA-Iloilo employees, and invited guests.

PSA Iloilo OIC Jerry L. Dolutan welcomed attendees, highlighting the vital role of LCROs in providing accessible and efficient civil registration services.

He stressed the importance of timely registration of vital events and commended the dedication of C/MCRs in supporting civil registration initiatives.

Dolutan also extended gratitude to the local government of San Enrique for hosting the event.

San Enrique Mayor Rosario Mediatrix P. Fernandez delivered an inspirational message, expressing appreciation for the participants’ dedicated public service.

She recognized the critical role of civil registrars, who work behind the scenes to ensure every citizen’s vital records are accurately documented.

One of the event’s highlights was the awarding of birth certificates printed on security paper to 12 beneficiaries of the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) from San Enrique.

Additionally, the top three best-performing LCROs in the 2024 BRAP implementation were recognized, with San Joaquin taking third place, Carles second, and Calinog earning the top spot.

Participants actively engaged in various contests and activities designed to foster camaraderie, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for civil registration.

In the Chess Tournament, the representative from LGU Iloilo City emerged as the champion. The Infographics Contest, which featured 17 impressive entries, saw LGU Guimbal taking the top prize for its exceptional visual representation of civil registration and vital statistics data.

The On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest showcased participants’ artistic skills, with LGU Mina earning first place for their visually compelling and meaningful artwork. Meanwhile, the CRM Jingle Dance Contest energized the event, with LGU Concepcion winning the top award for their vibrant and well-choreographed performance.

The ceremony concluded with a message from Guimbal Municipal Civil Registrar and ACRI Vice President Percylette Quidato. She expressed gratitude for the collective effort that ensured the event’s success and encouraged participants to stay actively involved in future activities of ACRI and PSA.

“The shared commitment of everyone here is essential in advancing our mission of building a resilient, agile, and future-fit civil registration and vital statistics system,” Quidato said.

The opening ceremony marked a successful start to the 35th Civil Registration Month, uniting civil registration professionals and stakeholders in their shared dedication to enhancing civil registration services for the benefit of the public.
