The Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) taekwondo gym showed why in these times of the pandemic, unity through sports shines the most.

Aiming to help the frontliners in their own way, staff of the MVP gym dished out free face masks to the security guards of Iloilo Festive Walk.

First handed out to MVP gym’s online class students for free, Mr. Pinggol and his staff decided to extend their helping hand to one of the most overlooked frontliners amid the pandemic.

After the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases and the government suspended contact sports in line with the safety protocols to combat COVID-19, the MVP gym decided to explore options and conducted their first-ever online training and classes.

Despite being new to the approach, Mr. Pinggol and his gym is trying to cope with the changing times and even conducted its promotion test online, a first for them.

“Nakita ko ni ang mga guards kag na appreciate ko gid ang ila kabuot kag kapisan while naga serbisyo sa dira nga area rain or shine man. So, napaisip ako paano ko ni sila mapasalamatan. Naisip ko e share ang MVP masks para mas magamit gid nila sa ila nga duty. Madamo sa mga MVP parents nga naga extend man sang ila bulig sa makaya nila nga way and with that na inspire man ako nila kag kanami sa feeling nga ang blessings nga naga abot sa imo, gina share mo sa iban especially during this time of the pandemic,” Mr. Pinggol said in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.
