Iloilo police offices cited during PRO-6 119th police anniversary celebration

Police units and individuals who performed at par, and even beyond, with Philippine National Police (PNP) standards were cited during the 119th Police Service Anniversary.

In Western Visayas, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) held the celebration on Aug 6, 2020 at the PRO-6 headquarters in Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City.

Leading this year’s unit awardees are Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO). They were adjudged as best police provincial and city police offices, respectively.

ICPO was earlier names the best CPO in the whole country.

Cadiz City Police Station in Negros Occidental was adjudged as the best component city police station while Malay Police Station, the unit stationed in Boracay Island, is the best municipal police station.

Bacolod City Police Station 1 is the best numbered city police station and was also cited for conducting the most number of anti-illegal gambling operations.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City Mobile Force is the best city mobile force company; the 2nd Negros Occidental Mobile Force Company is the best provincial mobile company; and the 605th Regional Mobile Force Company is the best regional mobile force company.

The Regional Highway Patrol Unit 6 is the best regional operational support unit while the Regional Communications and Electronics Unit 6 is the best regional administrative support unit.

The individual awardees include:

* Police Colonel Martin Defensor – Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) for Administration.

* Police Colonel Henry Biñas – Best Senior PCO for Operations

* Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca – Best Junior PCO for Administration

* Police Major Engilbert Banquillo – Best JUniro PCO for Operations

* Police Chief Master Sergeant Michael D Pontoy – Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) for Administration

* Police Chief Master Sergeant Rex Tejares – Best Senior PNCO for Operations

* Police Corporal Benedict Magarzo – Best Junior PNCO for Administration

* Police Staff Sergeant Warren Calzado – Best Junior PNCO for Operations

* NUP Garry Bañares – Best Non-Uniformed Personnel (supervisory level)

* NUP Geralie Prugalidad – Best NUP (non-supervisory level)

The celebration has also cited several personnel and units who contributed to the PRO-6 anti-criminality campaign.

Police Lieutenant Thurslie Castillo of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 was given a special award for anti-illegal drugs accomplishments while Police Lieutenant Colonel Algen Taba of the Regional Engineering Unit 6 and Police Corporal Alden Capungha of the Regional Comptrollership Division were awarded for what they did in the construction of PRO-6 buildings.

Aklan Police Provincial Office (AkPPO) was cited for its implementation of internal cleansing while the Regional Mobile Force Batallion 6 was deemed most complaint on BMI directives.

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office was cited for conducting most number or operations on anti-illegal drugs and anti-illegal gambling.

On the other hand, Bacolod City Police Station 2, Silay City Police Station (Negros Occidental), and Pavia Municipal Police Station were also acknowledged for conducting the most number anti-illegal drugs operations.

Sagay City Police Station and Cauayan Municipal Police Station were also given award for conducting the most number of anti-illegal gambling operations.

The San Carlos City Police Station (Negros Occidental) is the best unit in the implementation of “Birada Semana” while Dumarao Municipal Police Station did well in the implementation of Best in the Tokhang Kontra Armas Luthang.

Kabankalan City Police Station and Culasi Municipal Police Station were awarded as best implementors of “Oplan Banlaw.”

In the category of best Women and Children’s Protections Desk (WCPD), awarded were Police Lieutenant Nanette Puasan of Sapian Municipal Police Station; Police Senior Master Sergeant Lady Gerlie Deocadez of the Iloilo City Police Station 5; and Police Master Sergeant Mary June Fuentes of Kabankalan City Police Station.

Police Colonel Julio Gustilo Jr., Police Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas, and Police Staff Sergeant Ethel de Felix received a special award for their accomplishment in the implementation of COVID-19 protocols.

Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, said that PRO-6 has continually raised the level of performance in the police service each year.

“Indeed, this year the region has done well in the campaign against criminality, as well as in the response against the unseen enemy – the COVID-19,” he said.

Meanwhile, PRO-6 virtually joined in the celebration of the National Headquarters at Camp Crame Quezon City.

Safety and health protocols were observed during the entire activity.

“We will continue to man the borders, we will continue to monitor communities and more importantly, we will continue to prevent and solve crimes. This is our commitment and our promise,” Pamuspusan said.
