A laborer accused of rape was arrested on the morning of Dec. 11 in Calinog, Iloilo.
The suspect, identified as “Alias Mar,” 36, and a resident of Barangay Agbao, Bingawan, Iloilo, was apprehended while working in Barangay Poblacion Ilaya, Calinog.
Major Myles Dieron, chief of the Calinog police, said the suspect showed no resistance when authorities served the arrest warrant.
The warrant for rape, docketed under Criminal Case Number 24-2370, was issued by Judge Redentor Eugenio Esperanza of the Regional Trial Court Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo. No bail was recommended.
Personnel from the Calinog Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the 1st and 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Companies, carried out the arrest. The suspect was listed as the seventh most wanted person in Iloilo province.
According to police, Mar was accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old relative earlier this year.
The suspect is now in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
