Man hurt in mauling, stabbing

BACOLOD City – A man was injured after he was mauled and stabbed by a group of men at Purok San Jose 1, Barangay Sum-ag here last Wednesday.

Wounded was Erickson Sermon, 27, of Barangay Tangub here.

Lieutenant Abdon De Mateo, head of Police Station 9, said Sermon who was working in the village engaged in a commotion with the group of the Delgado family – Artemio, Peter, and Markly, earlier that day.

Later in the evening, Sermon was drinking liquor when he figured in another commotion with the Delgados’, the station commander added.

Based on the investigation, the suspects allegedly ganged up on the victim. Artemio allegedly stabbed his left leg and hit his head with a broken bottle.

Sermon also got stabbed on his shoulder with a broken bottle.

The suspects fled and left the victim on the ground.

De Mateo said the victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.

De Mateo said they are eyeing grudges as motive in the incident.

“Kilalahay man sila dati, basi may personal sila na grudges, indi pa gid clear,” he added.

He said physical injuries charges will be filed against the three suspects.
