A picture of anguish was painted all over the face of a father as he cried outside a pawnshop where his daughter’s stab-riddled body was found morning of June 6, 2022.

The victim, Bonna Ambay, 23, branch manager of RD Pawnshop, was found bathed in her blood around 9:08 a.m. Monday inside their branch on Mabini Street, Poblacion, Kalibo, Aklan.

A resident of Pandan, Antique, the victim was temporarily staying at a boarding house in New Buswang, Kalibo.

The incoming duty security guard already had doubts that something was amiss after he noticed that the store’s roll-up door was still closed but its secondary gate was open.

They later saw Ambay’s body inside the store.

Investigation indicated that the victim suffered multiple stab injuries on different parts of her body.

It was believed that she also suffered defense wounds.

Police recovered a pair of black slippers, blood-stained handcuffs and towel, a coin purse, a handbag, a knife, and a security guard’s long-sleeved uniform with the nameplate Torrefiel MA.

The evidence led police investigators to believe that Mark Archie Torrefiel, a security guard deployed at the said establishment, was behind the killing on Ambay.

The 31-year-old security guard was not home when police went to his house at Barangay Cajilo, Makato, Aklan.

Staff Sergeant Dande de la Cruz told local media that Torrefiel was seen on CCTV camera leaving the store on board his motorcycle around 5:30 p.m. of June 5.

He was carrying his issued firearm – caliber .38 revolver – that was licensed to his employer, Heart Security Agency.

Meanwhile, RD Pawnshop’s area manager told police investigators that the store’s vault was intact, and nothing was noticeably lost.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the incident.
