BACOLOD City – Mayor Evelio Leonardia on Oct 1, 2019 said President Rodrigo Duterte has confirmed his presence in the MassKara Festival celebration later this month.
Leonardia, who is the president of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP), met with the President for the LCP National Executive Board Meeting in Davao during the weekend.
“I asked him (Duterte) if he can come for the MassKara Festival this year and without batting an eyelash he said yes,” Leonardia said.
The President, according to the mayor also said “I will be there to show my support for you.”
This is the 4th consecutive year that the President is attending the MassKara Festival.
He said there is no definite date yet for the President’s arrival for the MassKara festivities which run from Oct 7 to 27, 2019.
He said it will be any day during the MassKara festivities depending on the schedule of the President.
Earlier, Leonardia said this year’s celebration will be a festival like no other.
The theme for the 40th MassKara Festival is “Bacolod, City of Smiles.”
The festival venues are the Bacolod Government Center the Lacson Tourism Strip and the city public plaza.
Other events will also be held at the Vendors’ Plaza and the old city hall.
