ROXAS CITY, Capiz – 18 more construction workers from the province of Capiz are appealing for help after being stranded for almost a month now in LaPaz, Iloilo City because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

The 18 workers appealed to local officials of Capiz to help them return after being stranded in Ledesco Village in Barangay Tabuc Suba, LaPaz.

According to Sergie Catalan, he and his fellow construction workers could hardly move after the entire Panay Island and the rest of the country were placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Catalan said they are sleeping in the garage of their construction site.

“We have an individual health certificate to prove that we are free from coronavirus (COVID-19) disease,” he said, adding that they are willing to undergo 14-day quarantine once they return home to Capiz.

Last week, more Capizeño construction workers were stranded at the border checkpoints of Brgys. Aglalana, Dumarao and Damayan Sapian in Capiz.

The provincial government through Governor Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras and local officials where the stranded workers lived extended help to the workers.
