Motorcycle rider dies, four others hurt in NegOr road mishap

BACOLOD City – A man died while four others were injured after they figured in a road accident between a motorcycle and a cargo truck at Barangay Bulak, Dauin, Negros Oriental last Thursday.

Police identified the fatality as Franco Ybias of Barangay Buntis, Bacong town.

Wounded were truck driver Kerwin Calientey Gegracia, 36; and his passengers – Jay-R Morino Asuscinas, 18, of Bayawan City; Jayson Marindoque, 21, of Pamplona town; Danilo Sumarana Asuscinas, 51, of Bayawan City; and Ernie Rabilyo Pastidio, 19, of Pamplona town.

Investigation indicated that a truck loaded with sacks of coconut shells was traveling from Bayawan City to Bacong town when it lost control and hit an electrical post that caused the vehicle to fall on its side.

The coconut shells that fell from the truck hit Ybias, who was at that time moving in the same direction.

Ybias and his motorcycle were buried under the sacks of coconut shells, according to the police.

All six of them were brought to the hospital, but Ybias was declared dead on arrival.

Five others sustained minor injuries.
