Bacolod City – Nine vaccination centers were opened in Bacolod City Friday to cater to eligible priority groups such as frontline healthcare workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), and persons with comorbidities (A3).

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran supervised the inoculation at the clustered vaccination center in Barangay 39 on Friday.

Leonardia said the vaccination centers are composed of 7 clustered barangays in addition to two malls.

This is to facilitate faster rollout of another batch of AstraZeneca vaccines that arrived last Tuesday, the mayor said.

A total of 21 barangays and clustered barangays are scheduled to open their respective vaccination centers between May 14 to 21 for faster vaccine rollout.

The vaccination activities are being supervised by the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and COVID-19 Vaccination Council (CoVaC).

Facilitating the vaccination activities are City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of EOC and coordinator of CoVaC; OIC-City Health Officer Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., Supervising and Administrative Officer Federico Guanzon Jr., and village chiefs Jude Salusada of Barangay 39, and Captain Elmer Villanueva of Barangay 40.

The target vaccinees are the remaining frontline healthcare workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), and persons with comorbidities (A3).

The clustered vaccination center in Brgy. 39 is one of the seven new additional vaccination centers that opened Friday to facilitate faster rollout of AstraZeneca vaccines that arrived last May 11.

Councilor Renecito Novero, chair of CoVaC Vaccination Centers, said these vaccine shots should be administered on target vaccinees within six to seven days.

Including SM City and Ayala Malls Capitol Central, there are already nine vaccination centers operational in the city.

The schedule of vaccination is based on a first-come first-served sequence in the order that the registration came into the City’s data base.

Only those who have completed their vaccination registration and have received a call or text from the EOC notifying them of their appointments will be accommodated to avoid overcrowding. (With a report from PIO)
