ROXAS CITY, Capiz – There are no more coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Capiz after a patient died in a hospital in Iloilo and while another recovered.

Ayr Altavas, Provincial Health Office (PHO) spokesperson, said Capiz’s Patient No. 5 died while undergoing treatment in Iloilo City Friday morning while Patient No. 3, who was also in Iloilo City, recovered.

Earlier, Patient No. 4 from Brgy. Manibad, Mambusao recovered at Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) after several days of confinement.

Patient No. 5 was the 63-year-old husband of the first COVID-19 fatality in Capiz. The two fatalities were cremated immediately and their ashes were reportedly brought home.

Meanwhile, Governor Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras will meet today, April 27, 2020 with Capiz mayors and members of the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 to tackle the proposal to downgrade the Enhanced Community Quaratine (ECQ) to General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

President Rodrigo Duterte last week announced in a briefing that Capiz was excluded from the extension of ECQ until May 15.

With the recent development, Contreras said there is a big possibility that Capiz will be downgraded to GCQ.

Under GCQ, children and teenagers below 20 years old and senior citizens are not allowed to go out of their homes. Schools, gaming, leisure, amusement, religious gatherings, conferences, are not allowed.

Public transportation will operate at reduced capacity while airports and seaports are open for goods only.

Malls can reopen non-leisure shops while curfew will still be enforced.
