The National University Lady Bulldogs responded with a huge closing set after falling in the third against Adamson, 25-20, 25-17, 13-25, 25-13, in the ongoing UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament.

After taking the first two sets in commanding fashion, the Lady Bulldogs were stunned by an Adamson offensive barrage and had to gather themselves at the start of the fourth.

Adamson took a convincing early lead, 19-9, and found ways to score against the Lady Bulldogs’ tall middle blockers spearheaded by Trisha Genesis who executed several crafty points that gave them the much-needed momentum.

However, NU countered with their own offensive blitz in the fourth set and showed no mercy spiking the ball to immediately grab a double-digit lead.

The Lady Bulldogs banked on the efficient scoring of Alyssa Solomon who finished the cardiac game with 20 points built from 17 successful attacks while also tallying three service aces.

Aside from the prowess of Solomon, NU also received huge games from Cess Robles with 12 points and the hero of their last game Ivy Lacsina who chipped in 10 points.

Adamson had the chance to inch closer in the fourth set after a service ace and two straight points but Robles’ own offensive run put NU back in a comfortable position and sealed the win.

“Importante rin kasi sa amin yung panalo na ito kasi dagdag confidence sa amin moving forward sa Final Four. Kaya kami nag-prepare talaga nang maayos and kailangan namin gumalaw para hindi namin iintindihin yung standing,” said NU head coach Karl Dimaculangan.

With the huge four-set win, the Lady Bulldogs are still the no.1 team in the tournament and extended their undefeated run to 11-0.
