BACOLOD City – Two alleged illegal drug couriers were arrested after yielding 1.050 kilos of suspected shabu worth P7,140,000 in a buy-bust operation at Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Police identified the subject of the operation as Razel Lyam Gamazan, 37, a sari-sari store owner; while her companion was identified as Lennie Nava, 40, both residents of Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, said the confiscated illegal drugs were concealed in a box of milk wrapped with a pair of surgical gloves and sealed with tape.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benitez Jr., officer-in-charge of Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU)-6, said the two women had just arrived in the province when they were arrested.
Benitez said they were supposed to intercept a silver-gray sedan which the suspects used, but they failed.
But they were able to corner the two suspects, who allegedly delivered some of the illegal drugs to Iloilo and Bacolod, before proceeding to Silay City via a roll on-roll off (RORO) vessel.
“May contact daw sila sa New Bilibid Prison (NBP) sa Muntinlupa City, nga amo gahatag sa ila instructions kung diin idul-ong,” Benitez said.
Benitez said they focused their monitoring on the two, following information they received six months ago about the alleged transport of illegal drugs in the province from Manila.
He said they are now investigating the possible clients of the two suspects here and in the province.
Police also recovered from them the P30,000 marked money and fake money, and P5,700 cash.
Police Colonel Leo Pamittan, acting director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), commended the police operatives for another successful accomplishment, as he ordered them to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs.
