The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers just lost a spark plug in their upcoming UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball redemption campaign.

Penny Estacio, one of their energy guys coming off the bench last UAAP season, will no longer wear the green and white and will be transferring to the NCAA confirmed last August 22, 2023.

According to multiple sources, Estacio already completed his transfer to the San Beda Red Lions and became their latest addition who jumped from the UAAP to the NCAA.

Estacio became a reliable piece to DLSU’s UAAP Season 85 campaign and helped them revive their hopes in the second half of the season but eventually failed to qualify in the Final Four.

During his one-year stint with the Green Archers, Estacio averaged 4.77 points, 1.62 rebounds, and 1.69 assists per game.

Estacio was known for his microwave scoring under the Derrick Pumaren era of La Salle and was always inserted to provide the much-needed offense in their run-and-gun sets.

The Green Archers also counted on Estacio’s hounding defensive pressure and was pesky to all of the guards that he faced in the UAAP.

Now that he will be donning the red and white jersey of the Red Lions, Estacio is expected to become an instant spark once he already plays for San Beda.

Estacio will be playing under the mentorship of head coach Yuri Escueta and will be joining a pool of talented players.

He will be reuniting with Ilonggo duo John Bryan Sajonia and Menard Songcuya, also former members of the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws basketball program.

Estacio will also team up with Joe Celzo, the Calimag brothers, Ilonggo Ronrei Tolentino, and former UP big man Bismarck Lina.
