Iloilo City’s power distribution utility, MORE Power, introduced the first electric bus or E-Bus in the city.

MORE Power President Roel Castro said this sustainable transportation option is part of MORE Power’s objectives to promote sustainable initiatives in the city.

“Part ito ng sustainable objectives ng MORE Power and ang Iloilo city has always been promoting to be a sustainable city with sustainable initiatives. Since we are in the electric distribution business, we thought of bringing this in,” Castro said.

The E-Bus produces no smoke emission or noise pollution, and is fully air-conditioned. It is capable of transporting 20 passengers and can travel as far as 100 kilometers when fully charged.

Mayor Jerry Treñas tried the E-Bus himself and shared his excitement about the eco-friendly transportation option.

“Thrilled to ride the eco-friendly e-bus of MORE Power. Let’s all do our part in reducing our carbon footprint and switch to sustainable transportation options,” Mayor Treñas said.

MORE Power plans to bring at least 10 units of E-Bus to Iloilo City this year and collaborate with transport cooperatives to promote the use of sustainable transportation options.

The introduction of E-Bus is an exciting development towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for Iloilo City.
