PRO-6 opens specialized course for WCPD Officers

Police Regional Office 6 opened the 17-day Specialized Course on Investigation of Crimes Involving Women and Children for PNP-WCPD officers on Oct 27, 2020 at the Caseñas Hall of Camp Martin Teofilo B Delgado, Iloilo City.

The course was attended by 56 policewomen assigned to different police units and Mobile Forces in Western Visayas via Zoom.

According to Police Colonel Ross C Alvarado, PRO6 Deputy Regional Director for Operations, being a WCPD investigator is a big challenge. They don’t have to master the filing of cases but they must possess the ability in assessing the victim and win their trust and confidence for them to fully cooperate.

In the course, the participants will be learning laws relative to gender-based violence and its application, different techniques on how to conduct interview to victims of abuses especially children, crafting affidavits and familiarize the protocols which will aide them in different scenarios that they might encounter as they render their duties as WCPD investigators.

The course is via online to ensure the safety of the personnel, for we are still fighting with the COVID-19 pandemic.
